Product Positioning

What Positions This Door in the Security Range

The metal security door sits between the standard cold-rolled steel security door and the heavy-duty institutional configurations in our lineup. The defining characteristic is the material specification: galvanized steel or cold-rolled SPCC with a galvanized coating layer, combined with reinforced internal framing channels that add structural rigidity without the weight penalty of a full 1.5mm body gauge.

That combination targets a specific procurement need — applications where corrosion resistance is a hard requirement (coastal markets, humid climates, light industrial environments) but where the full heavy-duty spec would push the price point above what the market will bear.

We run this door on a dedicated line alongside our steel security door range. The galvanized substrate goes through the same zinc phosphate pre-treatment and powder coating process as the rest of the range, which means the corrosion protection is layered: galvanized base metal, phosphate conversion coating, and 60–80μm powder topcoat.

For buyers sourcing into coastal Southeast Asia, the Gulf, or tropical African markets, that layered system is what keeps warranty claims off your desk. A single-layer powder coat on bare cold-rolled steel in a salt-air environment will show rust bleed at weld seams within 18–24 months. The galvanized substrate pushes that failure timeline out significantly.

Internal Framing Detail

Reinforced Internal Framing

The internal framing is the other differentiator from the standard steel security door. We run horizontal and vertical reinforcement channels inside the door leaf — 1.2mm cold-rolled steel, spot-welded to the inner face of the door skin.

This adds panel rigidity and anti-pry resistance without increasing the door's overall weight to the point where hinge loading becomes a concern. The reinforced framing adds roughly 3–4 kg to a standard 900×2000mm door, which is within the load rating of our standard 3-hinge setup.

Substrate-Level Protection

Corrosion Resistance as a Sourcing Advantage

Where the metal security door earns its place in a distribution catalog versus the standard steel security door — and why the substrate difference matters more than the finish.

The Z275 Galvanized Substrate

Galvanized steel starts with a zinc coating bonded to the steel surface at the mill — Z275 grade, meaning 275 g/m² of zinc coating weight. That zinc layer is the first line of corrosion defense.

When the powder coat eventually weathers or gets scratched in the field (and it will, over years of use), the zinc layer underneath continues to protect the base steel through sacrificial corrosion. The zinc oxidizes preferentially, slowing rust progression at the damaged area rather than letting it spread.

Weld Seam Grinding & Re-Treatment

Every weld seam is ground smooth and re-treated before the door enters the phosphate bath. This is the step most manufacturers skip because it adds labor time — and it's the step that causes the bubbling and peeling at weld lines that shows up in the field.

We learned that lesson early, before we added the pre-treatment step to our standard process. The evidence was in the replacement orders.

Real-World Outcome: Southeast Asian Coastal Markets

Buyers in Southeast Asian coastal markets switched from our standard steel security door to this configuration specifically because the finish failure rate on the standard door in their climate was generating too many callbacks. The galvanized substrate solved it. For distributors and importers, this translates directly to fewer warranty claims and replacement orders — the kind of after-sales cost that quietly erodes margin on a product line.

Distribution Intelligence

Market Segments Where This Door Moves

Four distinct buyer segments drive volume on this SKU. Understanding the order patterns and procurement logic in each helps you position inventory and build reorder cycles.

Metal security door installed at warehouse loading dock in light industrial facility
Primary Volume Segment

Light Industrial & Commercial Facilities

Warehouses, light manufacturing plants, logistics centers, and commercial storage. These environments combine moderate security requirements with real corrosion exposure: loading dock areas, facilities near water, buildings without climate control.

The 1.2mm galvanized body with reinforced framing hits the right spec for this application without over-engineering the door. Distributors who serve industrial property developers or facilities management companies can build a reliable reorder cycle around this SKU.

Typical Order Size

50–200 units per project

Pattern

Repeat as facilities expand

Second Major Segment

Coastal Residential & Mixed-Use Construction

Developers building apartment blocks or mixed-use projects in coastal cities — Southeast Asian port cities, Gulf coastal developments, Australian coastal markets — need a door that holds up in salt air without requiring premium pricing.

The metal security door sits at a price point that works for mid-range residential projects while delivering the corrosion resistance the environment demands. A developer sourcing 300 units for a coastal apartment block doesn't want to be fielding finish complaints from residents two years after handover.

Typical Order Size

100–300 units per project

Key Markets

Growing Segment

Institutional & Government Light-Security

Schools, clinics, government offices, utility facilities — primarily in Middle Eastern and African export markets. These buyers need a door that meets basic security requirements, handles institutional use patterns (moderate cycling, occasional rough handling), and doesn't require specialized maintenance.

The reinforced internal framing provides the anti-pry resistance that institutional procurement specs typically require, and the galvanized substrate handles the variable maintenance environments common in these facilities.

Configuration Guide

Customization: What Can Be Specified, What Can't

The metal security door is one of the more customizable configurations in our range because the galvanized substrate is available in standard coil widths that accommodate a broad range of door sizes without special tooling.

Size

Standard sizes run 800–1000mm wide and 2000–2100mm tall. Custom widths from 700mm to 1200mm and custom heights up to 2400mm are available within our press brake forming capacity.

  • Double-leaf configurations for openings up to 2400mm wide
  • Non-standard sizes require 100-unit MOQ

Body Gauge

Three gauge options to match application requirements and budget position.

  • 1.0mm — price-sensitive markets; galvanized substrate provides sufficient corrosion protection
  • 1.2mm — standard balance of weight and protection
  • 1.5mm — higher forced-entry resistance; affects hinge selection and frame spec

Gauge changes don't require new tooling but do affect lead time for material procurement.

Infill & Leaf Thickness

Standard 45–55mm leaf with air gap. Thermal or acoustic insulation infill available.

  • Mineral wool or polyurethane foam infill options
  • Insulated leaf thickness: 60–70mm
  • Relevant for climate-controlled facilities and thermal-performance markets

Lock Configuration

Single-point is standard. Multi-point locking available without significant lead time impact — hardware is stocked.

  • 3-point locking
  • 5-point multi-point locking
  • 7-point on request — at this spec level, the heavy-duty security door is usually the better fit

Vision Panels

Small vision panels can be added to the door leaf — a common request for commercial and institutional applications where visual access is a functional requirement.

  • 150×300mm tempered glass
  • 200×400mm tempered glass

Hardware Standard

Pre-installed to your specified standard. Supplied-component programs available for buyers with approved hardware suppliers.

  • ANSI Grade 1
  • ANSI Grade 2
  • EN 12209

What Can't Be Customized

The galvanized substrate is fixed — this is the defining material characteristic of this product. If your application doesn't require corrosion resistance and you want a lower-cost option, the steel security door is the right product.

Panel embossing profiles can be modified on runs of 200+ units where tooling investment is justified; below that, you're choosing from our standard panel profiles.

Manufacturing Process

How We Build It: Process Details That Affect Your Order

Every step in the production sequence has a direct bearing on the door you receive. Here's what happens between raw coil and packed pallet.

01

Coil Sourcing & Incoming Inspection

Galvanized coil comes from approved mills — we dual-source to avoid supply disruptions. Every incoming coil is checked for coating weight and surface condition before it enters the cutting line. Z275 is our standard spec; Z350 is available for buyers in particularly aggressive corrosion environments (marine industrial, chemical processing adjacent facilities).

02

CNC Laser Cutting

CNC laser cutting holds ±0.5mm on panel blanks. This matters for the galvanized material specifically because the zinc coating adds a small amount of dimensional variability compared to bare cold-rolled steel — our cutting parameters are calibrated for the coated material to maintain the same tolerance.

03

Press Brake Forming & Assembly

After cutting, panels go to the CNC press brake for forming. The reinforcement channels are formed separately and spot-welded to the inner door skin before the outer skin is applied and the perimeter is seam-welded.

04

Weld Seam Treatment

This is the step that separates a door that holds its finish from one that doesn't. Every external weld seam is ground flush and re-treated with zinc-rich primer before the door enters the phosphate bath.

The zinc phosphate conversion coating bonds to both the galvanized substrate and the zinc-rich primer at the weld areas, giving a continuous corrosion-resistant surface before the powder coat goes on.

05

Powder Coat Application

Applied electrostatically at 60–80μm. Film thickness is checked with a digital gauge on every door at the coating inspection stage — not sampled, every door.

06

Final Assembly & Fit Test

Final assembly includes hardware pre-installation and a full open/close cycle test. Every door is test-fitted against its frame before packing.

The frame-to-leaf fit is checked for gap consistency — we hold a 3–4mm perimeter gap as standard, which is the tolerance range that allows for field installation variation without affecting door operation or security performance.

Sourcing This Door vs. Sibling Products: Where Each Fits

The security door range covers 18 product lines. Use this comparison to position the metal security door correctly against the most commonly evaluated alternatives — and avoid specifying the wrong product for your market.

Metal Security Door

This Product

vs.

Steel Security Door

The steel security door uses bare cold-rolled SPCC without galvanized treatment. It's the right choice for dry interior environments and price-sensitive markets where corrosion resistance isn't a procurement requirement.

The metal security door costs more per unit but eliminates corrosion-related warranty claims in humid, coastal, or industrial environments.

The right choice depends on where your end customers are installing the door.

Choose Steel Door when:
Dry interior, price-sensitive market
Choose Metal Door when:
Humid, coastal, or industrial environment

Metal Security Door

This Product

vs.

Heavy Duty Security Door

The heavy-duty door runs 1.5mm+ body gauge with multi-point locking as standard and reinforced hinge plates designed for institutional and high-security applications.

If your market is government facilities, embassies, or correctional applications, the heavy-duty is the right spec. The metal security door is the right choice for commercial and light industrial applications where the heavy-duty spec would price the door out of the market.

Choose Heavy Duty when:
Government, embassy, correctional facilities
Choose Metal Door when:
Commercial or light industrial — cost-competitive spec

Metal Security Door

This Product

vs.

Commercial Security Door

The commercial security door is configured specifically for office buildings and retail — vision panels, access control prep, and architectural finish options are the focus.

The metal security door prioritizes corrosion resistance and structural rigidity over architectural finish options.

If your buyer needs a door for a commercial lobby with design requirements, the commercial security door is the better fit. If they need a door for a back-of-house or industrial application in a corrosive environment, this is the right product.

Choose Commercial Door when:
Office lobby, retail, architectural finish required
Choose Metal Door when:
Back-of-house, industrial, corrosive environment

Metal Security Door

This Product

vs.

Exterior Security Door

The exterior security door is specifically engineered for outdoor exposure — weather-sealed perimeter, heavy-duty threshold, and a coating system designed for direct weather contact.

The metal security door handles humid and corrosive indoor environments well but is not the right spec for direct outdoor exposure in rain or standing water.

If the application is a main building entrance or perimeter door with direct weather exposure, the exterior security door is the correct product.

Choose Exterior Door when:
Direct outdoor exposure, rain, standing water
Choose Metal Door when:
Humid or corrosive indoor environment

Sourcing Intelligence

Buyer FAQs: Metal Security Door Sourcing

Decision-support answers for importers, distributors, and project buyers evaluating this product for the first time or comparing it against alternatives in the range.

What is the difference between a metal security door and a steel security door?

In our range, the distinction is the substrate material and corrosion protection system. The steel security door uses bare cold-rolled SPCC steel with powder coat finish — adequate for dry interior environments.

The metal security door uses galvanized steel (Z275 zinc coating) as the base material, adding a sacrificial zinc layer beneath the powder coat. In humid, coastal, or light industrial environments, the galvanized substrate significantly extends the door's service life before corrosion becomes visible.

If your market is coastal Southeast Asia, the Gulf, or tropical Africa, the galvanized substrate is worth the price difference.

What steel gauge should I specify for light industrial applications?

1.2mm galvanized body with reinforced internal framing channels is the standard spec for light industrial — warehouses, logistics facilities, light manufacturing. It provides adequate forced-entry resistance for most commercial security requirements and keeps the door weight within the load rating of a standard 3-hinge setup.

1.5mm Higher security: secure storage, cash handling, server rooms — specify 5-point multi-point locking
1.2mm Standard light industrial — warehouses, logistics, light manufacturing
1.0mm Price-sensitive, dry environments only — not recommended for industrial use with regular rough handling

Can I source metal security doors with my own brand and packaging?

Yes. OEM private-label is a standard part of our business — your logo on the door label, your brand name on the carton, your product codes in the documentation.

Configuration MOQ
Standard catalog + branding changes 50 units
Custom panel profiles / non-standard config 100 units

We provide free design consultation and 3D rendering before you commit to an order. Most buyers in this category start with a sample order of 2–5 units to verify the product against their spec before placing a container order.

What certifications do metal security doors need for import into Southeast Asian markets?

Requirements vary by country. For most Southeast Asian markets, ISO 9001:2015 and CE marking satisfy commercial import compliance.

Some markets (Singapore, Malaysia) have specific building code requirements for security doors in certain applications. If your project has a specific standard requirement, send us the spec and we'll confirm whether our product qualifies or what modifications are needed.

ISO 9001:2015 CE Marking SGS Audited

SGS audit reports are available on request and are accepted by most project specification authorities in the region.

What is the minimum order for custom sizes?

Custom sizes within our standard forming capacity (700–1200mm wide, up to 2400mm tall) require 100-unit MOQ.

Standard catalog sizes — available from 50 units (branding/color changes only):
800 × 2000mm 900 × 2000mm 960 × 2100mm 1000 × 2100mm

If you're evaluating a custom size for a specific project, send us the dimensions and target volume — we'll confirm feasibility and quote lead time.

How does the galvanized substrate affect the powder coat color options?

It doesn't — the full 60+ RAL color range is available on the galvanized substrate. The zinc phosphate pre-treatment step bonds equally well to galvanized steel as to bare cold-rolled steel, so the powder coat adhesion and finish quality are the same across both substrates.

Custom color matching is available on runs of 100+ units. Standard RAL selections are available from 50-unit MOQ with no additional tooling charge.
