Where Aluminium Outperforms Steel
in the Security Door Market
The aluminium security door occupies a specific and commercially important niche. It is not a lighter-duty alternative to steel — it is the right material choice for a defined set of installation environments and buyer markets where steel's weaknesses become your downstream customers' complaints.
Corrosion Resistance
In coastal markets — Gulf states, Southeast Asian island markets, Australian coastal cities, Caribbean and Pacific island projects — steel security doors require aggressive coating systems and still generate rust-related warranty claims within 3–5 years in high-humidity, salt-air environments.
Aluminium doesn't rust. That's not a feature to explain to your customer; it's a warranty claim that never arrives.
For distributors supplying coastal construction projects or residential developers in humid climates, switching from steel to aluminium security doors can meaningfully reduce after-sales cost and protect margin on repeat business.
Weight Advantage
A standard aluminium security door runs 30–40% lighter than a comparable steel unit. That matters in two places: freight cost per container and on-site installation labor.
For buyers shipping to markets where labor cost is high or where multi-story residential projects require manual door handling, the weight difference translates directly into landed cost and installation efficiency.
Buyers in Australia and Southeast Asia have switched residential project specifications to aluminium specifically because installation crews can handle doors without mechanical assistance on upper floors — a real cost reduction for the contractor.
Finish Versatility
Aluminium takes anodizing and powder coating differently than steel — the surface profile allows for a cleaner, more architectural finish that positions well in mid-to-premium residential and light commercial segments.
If your downstream market includes property developers or architects specifying entrance doors, aluminium gives you a product that photographs and presents better than painted steel.
This supports a higher retail price point and better margin — a selling point when quoting against steel alternatives in premium residential and light commercial segments.
- Rust and warranty claims in coastal / humid environments within 3–5 years
- 30–40% heavier — higher freight cost per container and harder on-site handling
- Painted finish less suited to premium architectural specifications
- Requires mechanical assistance for upper-floor installation in multi-story projects
- Zero rust — no corrosion warranty claims in salt-air or high-humidity markets
- 30–40% lighter — lower freight cost and manual handling on upper floors
- Anodized or powder-coated finish supports mid-to-premium residential positioning
- Right choice for coastal, island, and humid-climate construction projects

Why 6063-T5 Alloy
The 6063-T5 alloy is the standard choice for extruded door profiles — it gives the right balance of extrudability for complex profile shapes, surface finish quality for anodizing, and structural stiffness for a security application.
We don't use 6061 on door profiles; the extrusion surface finish is inferior and the anodizing result is inconsistent. Buyers who've had anodizing adhesion problems with other suppliers are usually looking at a 6061 or lower-grade billet issue.
Multi-Point Locking — Standard
The multi-point locking system is standard on all our aluminium security doors — a single-point deadbolt is not adequate for a product marketed as a security door, and it's the first thing a knowledgeable end-user or building inspector will check.
The lock engages at a minimum of three points along the door edge, with a cylinder lock and lever or handle set. Hardware finish options include satin stainless, brushed aluminium, and matte black to coordinate with the door finish.

Production: How We Build the Aluminium Profile and Why It Matters for Your Order
Every dimensional tolerance, corner joint, and surface finish decision in our production line has a direct consequence for your field performance and your customers' satisfaction. Here's what we control and why it matters.
Extrusion from 6063-T5 Billet
We extrude aluminium door profiles in-house from 6063-T5 billet. The extrusion process determines the dimensional consistency of the frame and leaf profiles — wall thickness, corner radius, and channel dimensions all come out of the die. Our dies are maintained to a ±0.2mm profile tolerance, which is what keeps your frame-to-leaf fit consistent across a 500-unit order.
If you've ever had field complaints about aluminium doors that bind or have uneven gaps, inconsistent extrusion tolerances are almost always the root cause. Die quality is where cheap aluminium doors fall apart.
CNC Cutting, Mitering & Corner Reinforcement
After extrusion, profiles are cut to length on CNC saws, mitered at corners, and assembled with mechanical corner keys and structural adhesive. The corner joint is the structural weak point in any aluminium door frame.
On security-grade units, we reinforce all four corners with internal steel corner brackets — this prevents the racking failure mode that shows up in lower-cost aluminium doors after a few years of use. The door leaf is assembled with aluminium skins bonded to the internal core under controlled pressure, then trimmed and fitted to the frame with EPDM perimeter sealing.

Surface Finishing Options
Powder Coating
Automated electrostatic line. 60–80μm film thickness. 500-hour salt spray rated. Same spec as our steel door line. Full RAL color range available.
Anodizing
For buyers who want the natural aluminium look. Anodizing depth runs 15–20μm for exterior applications — the threshold for long-term UV and abrasion resistance in outdoor installations.
We do not offer anodizing below 15μm for exterior doors. The finish degrades too quickly in direct sun and your customers notice within two years.

Market Segments Where This Door Generates Repeat Orders
Aluminium security doors aren't a one-time sale in the right markets. Here are the four segments where distributors and contractors see consistent reorder volume — and what drives the buying pattern in each.

Coastal & Tropical Residential Development
Property developers and residential contractors in Gulf states, Southeast Asia, and Pacific markets specify aluminium security doors as standard on mid-to-premium residential projects. A typical mid-rise residential project in these markets runs 80–200 units per building, with developers often running multiple buildings simultaneously.
The corrosion-resistance argument sells itself to the developer's facilities team, and the lighter weight reduces installation cost. For distributors supplying these markets, aluminium security doors generate consistent reorder volume tied to construction cycles — not a one-time sale.

Hospitality & Resort Construction
Hotels and resort properties in coastal and island locations are a high-value segment. A 200-room resort property needs 200+ entrance doors plus service and utility doors — typical order sizes run 150–400 units per project. Architects on these projects specify aluminium for the finish quality and corrosion resistance, and the procurement goes through a contractor or FF&E supplier.
This segment has grown significantly in Southeast Asia and the Middle East over the past three years — worth paying attention to if you're building your distribution business in those regions.

Light Commercial & Retail Fit-Out
Retail chains, office fit-outs, and commercial tenancy projects specify aluminium security doors for entrance and back-of-house applications. Order patterns here are typically 20–100 units per project, but the repeat frequency is high — a retail chain rolling out new locations or a commercial fit-out contractor working on multiple tenancies generates consistent quarterly orders.
The finish versatility of aluminium — anodized or powder-coated in brand colors — is a selling point for retail clients who want entrance doors that match their brand identity.

Residential Security Upgrade Programs
In markets where government or insurance programs incentivize security door upgrades — common in parts of Australia, the UK, and the Middle East — distributors and installers run high-volume programs supplying standardized aluminium security doors to residential properties.
These programs often run 500–2,000 units over a contract period, with standardized specs that make repeat ordering straightforward. If you're positioned in a market with active upgrade programs, a stocked SKU of a standard aluminium security door size is a reliable revenue line.

Customization: What You Can Specify and Where the Limits Are
Aluminium security doors are more customizable than steel in some dimensions and less in others. Here's what's practical.
Size
Width 700–1200mm, height 1900–2400mm for single-leaf. Double-leaf configurations available up to W2400mm.
Outside these ranges, extrusion die modifications are required — possible but adds lead time and tooling cost. Standard sizes ship faster.
Finish
Any RAL color in powder coat, minimum 100 units per color for a dedicated run. Anodizing in silver (natural), bronze, champagne, and black as standard options.
Custom anodizing colors require a minimum 200-unit run and a color sample approval process. Mixed-finish orders are handled as separate production batches.
Glass Inserts
Tempered glass (6mm standard, 8mm available), laminated glass, or frosted/patterned glass. Glass insert size and position are customizable within the door leaf dimensions.
Full-glass leaf configurations are available for interior security applications.
Hardware
Multi-point lock is standard. Cylinder brand (Abloy, KABA, or our standard OEM cylinder) can be specified. Smart lock integration (electronic cylinder, keypad, or card reader) is available — we pre-wire the door leaf during assembly for electronic hardware.
Panic bar / push bar hardware available for commercial egress applications.

Minimum Order Quantities at a Glance
Container Loading and Landed Cost Planning
A standard 40HQ container loads approximately 150–200 aluminium security door sets in KD (knock-down) flat-pack format — door leaf, frame sections, and hardware packed separately in reinforced cartons with foam corner protection.
The lighter weight of aluminium versus steel means you can sometimes load more units per container before hitting the weight limit, which improves your per-unit freight cost on heavier-gauge configurations.
For pre-hung assemblies (door leaf pre-fitted in frame), container loading drops to approximately 80–120 units per 40HQ depending on frame profile size. Pre-hung ships faster on-site but costs more in freight — most of our buyers in markets with skilled installation labor prefer KD for the freight savings.
Batch Traceability
Every carton carries a barcode linked to our production batch record. If there's a quality question on arrival, you can trace the unit back to its production date, line, and inspection record.
Export Documentation Package
We've been loading export containers since 2008. The documentation package is complete and standard for customs clearance in North America, the EU, the Gulf, Southeast Asia, and Australia.

Frequently Asked Questions
Decision-support answers for importers, distributors, and project buyers evaluating aluminium security doors.
What aluminium alloy grade is used in your security doors, and does it matter?
We use 6063-T5 for all extruded profiles. The T5 temper (air-quenched after extrusion) gives adequate yield strength for a security door application — typically 145–175 MPa — while maintaining the surface finish quality needed for anodizing.
Some suppliers use 6061, which has higher strength on paper but produces a rougher extrusion surface that anodizes inconsistently. For a security door that will be powder-coated, 6061 is acceptable. For anodized finishes, specify 6063-T5 and ask your supplier to confirm the alloy on the material certificate.
Aluminium security door vs. steel security door: which is better for coastal markets?
For coastal and high-humidity markets, aluminium is the lower-risk choice for your downstream customers. Steel security doors in salt-air environments require a high-performance coating system (minimum 500-hour salt spray rated) and still carry rust risk at cut edges, weld points, and hardware penetrations over a 5–10 year horizon.
Aluminium doesn't rust at the substrate level — coating failure is a cosmetic issue, not a structural one. The trade-off is cost: aluminium security doors typically carry a 15–25% price premium over equivalent steel.
In markets where the corrosion argument is strong (coastal Australia, Gulf states, Southeast Asian islands), that premium is easy to justify to the end buyer. In inland markets with low humidity, steel is the more cost-effective choice.
What is the maximum custom size for an aluminium security door?
Beyond these dimensions, we need to assess structural requirements and may need to modify the internal reinforcement design — send us the target size and application and we'll confirm feasibility and lead time.
What MOQ applies to custom colors and finishes?
Custom anodizing also requires a color sample approval step before production. Below these quantities, the powder line changeover or anodizing bath setup cost doesn't make sense for either side — we'd rather be honest about that upfront than quote a price that doesn't work.
Can you supply aluminium security doors with smart lock pre-wiring?
Yes. We pre-wire the door leaf during assembly for electronic cylinder, keypad, or card reader hardware. The conduit and junction box are built into the door leaf profile — your installer connects the hardware on-site without drilling or routing.
Specify the hardware brand and model when you order and we'll confirm compatibility. We've done this for Abloy, KABA, and several OEM electronic lock brands.
